Description

Pressure Plug:

These parts provide pressure against the back of the 22lr bolt carrier group and increase reliability of both conversions and dedicated 22lr uppers.  Our novel quick insert design allows for one handed insertion and removal without the need for tools.  Simply line up the insertion slot with the buffer retention pin, slide the plug into place and rotate 1/4 turn until the pin sits in the slot of on the solid front face of the plug.  Removal is is done in a similar manner, pressing in the buffer plug slightly and rotating the plug until the pin lines up with the insertion slot. The part can be inserted either direction, but we recommend inserting the side with the hollow cavity towards the buffer and the solid face towards the bolt carrier group.

Charging Handle Insert:

Our innovative charging handle insert reduces malfunctions and gas blowback.

Power Extractor (with springs):

Our 22lr Power Extractor help your rifle to have better extractor bite and increased live round extraction reliability on a dirty chamber or with waxy ammo (Golden Bullets, Armscor, Wolf Match, etc.). Level 1: 200% extractor force, Level 2: 500% extractor force.

Premium Cresent Firing Pin (with spring):

Our newly released round tip pin for increased ignition realiablity.  The back of the pin is profiled to center the hammer impact for longer firing pin life as well as reduced chance of out of battery detonation.  Turned on a precision Swiss lathe from carefully selected high strength steel and then heat treated to our proprietary specifications.  Includes one firing pin spring.

Bolt Buffers:

The BoreBuddy bolt buffer prevents the bolt from slamming into the backplate when the rifle is fired.  This reduces the noise generated by the cycling of the bolt and reduces wear and tear to the bolt and the lower receiver.  When shooting suppressed, a noticeable decrease in sound level has been reported.  Buffers are consumable and for best buffer life, standard or subsonic ammunition is recommended.

Adjustable Bolt Weight:

Our 22lr AR bolt weight system reduces bolt velocity, delaying case ejection and reducing the volume of gas and powder residue released from the ejection port, while eliminating the infamous 22lr AR bolt bounce.  The bolt weight engages our bolt buffer at the rear of the BCG, further reducing noise and harshness for a truly refined and reliable system.  With a weight, your rifle stays much cleaner, as well.  The adjustable bolt weight allows the bolt weight to be fine tuned (similar to tuning using H1, H2, or H3 configurations in a standard centerfire AR).

Recoil Spring kit:

Adjust bolt return speed and tune for different ammo using our 3lb, 4lb or 6lb spring.

The Reliability Kits are designed to fit dedicated rifles and conversion kits with a Atchisson/Ciener/CMMG/Spikes style bolt.  See bolt weight warning for Ciener bolts: Please click here for details

Details: Standard AR with in .223wyld with CMMG conversion kit. Used federal bulk pack and had several issues with extraction, failure to feed, failure to fire at a rapid pace (bolt bounce most likely) and general feeding issues with standard mags. I could have used better ammo but I refuse to buy fancy .22lr ammo.

Before many of the parts in this kit were available I had ordered the bore buddy standard reliability kit that had the buffer piece, the buffer plug, charging handle insert and some stiffer extractor springs.

Shot this a bunch and still every once and a while I would have malfunctions I associated with the crap ammo. I felt like you could only get so good with .22lr.

Then I purchased the “stimulus package” shown here. Along with a CMMG dedicated .22lr barrel which eliminates the gas block and has a proper twist rate for .22lr and a TACOM competition recoil spring to finish it off. (patiently waiting for a selection of springs….)

In short, 350 rds later which included federal bulk pack, Winchester bulk, Wildcat bulk, CCI stinger, CCI segmented HP, and some 15 year old crusty corroded Remington “game load” and there was ZERO malfunctions to speak of. I though for sure the old crusty Remington ammo would choke it up but I had ZERO malfunctions in 350rds. I’m not sure how you could be any more pleased with a product than that. Also, only one drop of oil in the extractor area for assembly, other wise no oil. I also never had to oil it to continue functioning. Simply put, for 350rds it just kept going, and going, and going, without a single hiccup. The action was also much cleaner in part from the dedicated barrel not having a gas port and I believe from the extra weight slowing the bolt and keeping the action forward just long enough for more powder to burn before cycling.

Seriously what more could you ask for.

Of course, shipping and customer service couldn’t have been better. I had to ask about the torque of the small bolts for the adjustable bolt weight and was prompted with a funny conversation about it. Needles to say, a very carful snug with some Loctite will do and the ability to safety wire your bolts isn’t available….. yet.

Thanks again for a great product!

I can honestly say this was worth every penny if not for the fun of just tuning your own ar22 perfectly but then you get a near 100% reliable ar-22. I fine tuned my 16.5 barrel with all stainless steel inserts. I used medium strength lock tite on the bolt weight and don’t overtighten, be careful not to strip out the threads. It runs a franklin binary perfect now. It’s so nice to shoot 22 fast. I used the included improved firing pin with original firing pin spring, improved extractor with included extractor spring. I installed both the bolt buffer as well as the bolt plug both work great. I love this kit this really is the kit to buy to get the binary’s running good. Highly recommended. It may be expensive but the experience of fine tuning a weapon to perfection is the most self rewarding thing you can do as a man.

I have a CMMG 8″ barrel kit that I put together in an Aero upper in order to run on a SBR for Steel Challenge and on my M16A1 (with the Bore Buddy autosear trip) for good times.

I’ve been shooting mostly copper plated Orbea high velocity ammo lately which seems pretty hot. Out of the box I was getting lots of stovepipes and ejection problems. Probably a couple per magazine. It took a couple bricks of ammo to get everything tuned but I’m now running 3 tungsten inserts and 1 steel insert in the weight together with the heavier recoil spring and all the other goodies from the kit. Reliability is almost perfect in both semi and auto.

Tuning is obviously important and seems to vary considerably by ammo. I spent a lot of time playing with different bolt weights and still getting stovepipes (I think due to excess bolt velocity) with the Orbea before I loaded up with tungsten weights and the heavy (red) spring. If I shoot CCI Blazer in that config it often fails to cock the hammer. But lightening the bolt weights fixes this. So the adjustable weight really seems like a must-have.

The workmanship, functionality, and design of all the pieces of this kit are top notch. My only gripe is that the tiny screws in the bolt weight end cap are a pain to keep tight — they love to back out and start to drag. Vibra-tite seems to help but I think I’d have preferred a roll pin to hold on the end cap.

I ordered and received the Stimulus Bundle from Bore Buddy. First off, I have never ever gotten anything from coast to coast as quickly as I received this package. It was First Class, with insurance and nothing special. It shipped on the 28th and was here on the 30th.
With that out of the way, the product is well thought out and manufactured precisely with very good quality. The instructions on site were ok but customer video’s on line will answer many questions anyone might have. I had watched pretty much every one there was before I even bought the package so it was pretty much a slam dunk for me.
In my opinion, one of the best pieces of information out there is what weights people have found out works the best for most applications. FYI two big Tungsten and two small Steel inserts are the ticket for 16″ barrels, unsuppressed with high velocity 1200+ fps ammo. That is the consensus on the net and that formula worked for me. I have many types of manufacturers but havent had a chance to try them. I can say that Aguila 40gr ran flawless with this setup. Aguila failed miserably without the Bore Buddy.
I would have bought 2 of these but at that price point I decided to just do the one. Im an inventor also, holding 3 patents, and I watched a video of Will talking about his product. He found problems, mitigated them one at a time, and came up with a product that solves all the short comings that CMMG fell short on. The adjustable weight allows for a lot of fine tuning should you decide to use different barrels or ammo. Hats off to Will and Bore Buddy.

I felt I needed to revisit my review and update my pleasure with this product. I put together 2-16″ uppers. Both had the stimulus bundles installed in them. I ran just about ever 22LR bullet that there is out there through these guns. The only thing I didnt deviate from is the FPS of the round. I kept them between 1200 and 1300. I have ran over 5000 rounds through these. I didnt keep a running count but I estimate that I had about one FTF out of every 1000 rounds. All of the FTF’s fired when put through the gun a second time. The better firing pin and stronger spring seemed a huge upgrade to stock. I had absolutely no FTE’s which I attribute to the upgraded extractor. I can say that I abused how fast I fired these rounds to actually try to get them to mess up. 5000 cycles and 5 FTF’s are more than any person can hope for with a 22LR. I even had some fun with my friends Binary Trigger without a hiccup. As far as accuracy goes, I found that 40gr bullets were better than 36’s. I could easily shoot MOA with 40 and 2-3″ with 36. I used CCI, Aguila, Remington, Winchester, Armscor, Wolf, Federal and even bullets that were so old and corroded that the brass was corroded to where I had to wipe off the buildup. I have no idea what brand they were. I pretty much ran every kind of 22LR that most people would run and it was flawless.

Now lets talk about cleaning. Every time I went out I shot at least 500 rounds with the maximum being 8 to 900 rounds. Any other setup I have the guns would have been filthy and you know how filthy most LR ammo is. I was able to pull it down and clean the whole receiver and BCM with a simple wipe down with paper towels and oil. Cleaned the barrel and everything was spotless and took less than 20 minutes to clean.

Another tip Will gave me was to install an adapter so you can use the S&W 15/22 25 round magazines. Those mags are easy to load and hold the last round open like it should. When I first started messing with an AR22 they were frustrating. They fired fine as long as you didnt go crazy with it. Out of 1000 rounds I probably had 50 to 100 FTE’s, FTF’s, and FTFeed’s. That was shooting slow and methodical. You could plainly see there was bolt bounce and timing issues without the Bundle installed. Wills knowledge and excellent products turned a frustrating day into a day that is absolute fun and cheap. If you dont use these products you are just spinning your wheels trying to have a fully functional AR22 that is going to fire 99.9% of the time. Thanks to Will and Bore Buddy for cleaning up the imperfections in these conversions.

Borebuddy shipped me this package incredibly quick. I bought it because I recently purchased a CMMG Bravo conversion kit that would not run in my S&W first-gen mp-15 sport. My AR now runs at least one type of ammo beautifully. Everything seems to be of high quality, and customer service is on point. Big thanks to BB, keep up the good work!
